Is it announcement time, already? Why, yes it is!
Well, if you’re familiar with my work, you’re certainly familiar with the Super Mario Icons pack. Heck, you’re probably using them right now, aren’t you? What’s that? You’re saying you wouldn’t even be here if it weren’t for them?
Well, it’s great that you’re here today then, because I’m announcing the Super Mario Icons Extravaganza, which is just a fancy name for:
One new Super Mario icon every week, all year!

For those of you that don’t know about the Super Mario Icons pack, it’s a pack containing a ton of Super Mario themed icons that I painted myself (I’m told they look just like official artwork, in case you’re wondering, but check for yourself).
The reason I’m doing this? Well, the Super Mario Icons pack is, by far, my most famous piece of work. On my deviantart page alone (the place the pack calls home), it has been viewed more than 200,000 times, and it has also found its way out of the site and into many other places. I’ve got people come to me for their design projects just because of it, actually.
But it’s been a long time since I updated it, and I feel like I owe it to you! I thought this would make it more interesting and make me more productive, too. Since there’s a deadline, I won’t relax too much and will have to make them new icons in time.
Anyway, here’s how it’ll work: every Sunday of 2011, starting January 2nd, I’ll release one new Super Mario icon. That’s 52 new icons, added to the 64 existing ones. Just like the ones on the pack, they’ll be available as ICO, ICNS and PNG files, so you’ll get to use them on any operating system.
As for what the icons will be, that’s where you come in! I do have an idea of the icons you want made, from emails and comments you’ve been sending my way, but I want more ideas! Super Mario Icons Extravaganza is all about the icons you want, so let me know. Any way you can reach me will be fine: you can drop a comment here on this page (or the hub, too), send me an email, or even tweet me!
There is a Super Mario Extravaganza-exclusive RSS feed, if you want to get the new icons and not the other stuff I post, and if you don’t want to be downloading a new icon every week, you can wait ‘till the end of the year, when I’ll add the 52 new icons to the pack.
